SOLEX ARRIVES IN THE UK

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

EBCO has announced it has completed the deal to exclusively distribute SOLEX ebikes and e-scooters into the UK and Ireland.  It is now interested in talking to potential retailers who can see the obvious benefits of getting involved with a cycle and scooter company that is world famous for style.

SOLEX was an iconic post war brand selling 8 million motorized scooters based on its 49cc engine built into a regular bicycle frame.  For the post war generations SOLEX will conjure images of young, stylish urban riders.

The company has now re-launched with design and technology still at the heart of the brand.  A focused and well thought out range of three instantly recognizable red and black models: Velosolex (folding ebike, SRP £1,299), Solexity (a low-step ebike SRP £1,799) and e-Solex  (e-scooter SRP £1,999).

All three models have been designed by Pininfarina, the world famous Italian design house that has developed such iconic cars as the Ferraris 599, 458 and California, the Maserati Quattroporte and the Alfa Romeo Spyder, some of the most iconic cars on the planet.  With this design pedigree it comes as no surprise that each model looks absolutely jaw-droppingly beautiful.

British Cycling changes its mind about ebikes – thanks to the Eagle!

Friday, December 16th, 2011

Ebikes have their fans but they also have their doubters.  The approach to ebikes from certain dyed-in-the-wool cyclists ranges from skeptical to downright cynical.

We put EBCO’s Eagle up for the ultimate test, sending it to British Cycling, up in Manchester, to see if we could convert the guys on their web team, during the cycling governing body’s recent commuting campaign.

Philip Ingham, British Cycling web editor, took the Eagle and decided to pitch it against a colleague on a pretty fierce 22-mile commute over the Pennines.  Setting out, Philip, the self-confessed ebike doubter admitted he felt pretty ‘smug’ that he’d fair better on his usual commuter tool, a cyclo-cross bike.  However, not far into the ride the Eagle began to show its true colours and Philip realized he’d clearly chosen the wrong option and felt he was riding with a ‘machine of an athlete’!

Anyone who still doubts just how good the Eagle is should watch the video on British Cycling’s website here:

Better still, all EBCO dealers have demo bikes so if the video has begun to rouse your curiosity we would advise you get to a dealer and try one out for yourself!

Council turns to EBCO for greener transport

Monday, November 7th, 2011

Staff at Taunton Deane Borough Council have turned to EBCO to encourage a more eco-friendly way to get around. They’ve bought two EBCO Eagles from ebike specialists Reaction Cycles and are looking at how cycling can reduce both journey times and congestion.

The opted for the Eagles for their impressive range that make them attractive for commuters and the cost of a full charge (around 5p) equates to around 45 miles travel so it dosn’t take a mathematical genius to work out the economic sense.

We are sure they’ll love riding their new EBCO eagles, read the full article here:
