E-bikes the law

The UK is about to adopt the EU standard–EN 15194 relating to electric bikes with much stricter rules and regulations. All EBC e-bikes have been tested and comply with standard.

Here are some points for your information:-

All e-bikes must have pedals and a maximum assisted speed of 25 kph (15.5mph) to comply with the law as applying to pedal cycles.

Power must be cut off automatically as soon as the brakes are applied or when you cease to pedal your cycle.

Drive System

All EBC e-bikes use pedal assist drive systems, this means power is only delivered whilst the rider is cycling, ( ie pushing the pedals)

Minimum age and weight

In the UK e-bikes riders must be over 14 years old with a bike weight less than 40kg.
